Fighting "White Line Fever": Mental Health on the Road

"White Line Fever" isn't just zoning out; it's the hypnotic, depressive state that comes from days of isolation. OTR drivers face higher rates of depression than almost any other profession.

You have to feed your mind. Don't just listen to the same music. Audiobooks and podcasts engage your brain and make the miles disappear. Learn a language. Listen to history.

Most importantly, maintain human contact. Call a friend, another driver, or family every day. If you find yourself feeling hopeless or constantly angry at 4-wheelers, it’s time to talk to a professional. There is no shame in getting help—telehealth makes it easy to talk to a therapist right from the cab.
